Many people @NYTMag & @nytimes worked on (& are still working on) the #1619Project. Rough count = ~80. All of them, me included, were inspired, driven, encouraged--in a word, *led*--by the vision, intellectual rigor, ambition & charisma of 1 amazing person: @nhannahjones 2/11

It’s "hugely problematic" that Hong Kong police fired tear gas from above crowds, an expert said, as seen here. “If it hits someone in the head, you could kill them," said Jim Bueermann, former president of the Police Foundation in Washington. “I have never seen that before."

I saw a woman get hit in the head with a tear gas canister in Abdel Moneim Riad Square in Cairo on the third day of the Egyptian Revolution. I do not know what happened to her in the end but it looked very, very bad.

Catholic high schools exclude Brebeuf Jesuit Prep from participating in Catholic sports events after Brebeuf refuses to fire a gay employee who is civilly married. https://www.newwaysministry.org/2019/08/17/indianapolis-catholic-schools-exclude-brebeuf-jesuit-students-from-athletic-competition/ …
